Organized in 1963, the Vanderslice Committee is a volunteer support organization of the Kansas City Art Institute. The committee raises funds for the beautification and restoration of historic Vanderslice Hall, the college's main administrative building. The historic mansion dates to 1896 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Vanderslice Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September to May, excluding the month of January. A holiday luncheon is held in December and a spring luncheon in May. A spirit of kinship is formed among members of the committee working together at monthly meetings and in preparation for the annual fundraising event. Members develop a special bond to the college and its students in their efforts to support KCAI.
For over 45 years, the Vanderslice Committee hosted the Vanderslice Kitchens and Homes Tour as part of their annual fundraising event. In 2009 the committee decided to embark on alternative fundraising opportunities and hosted the "Welcome to Nutterland" party at the home of Jim and Sonya Nutter. Each year since 2009 the committee has hosted a different annual fundraising culinary event around the Kansas City metropolitan area. This year's fundraising event, "Palette and Palate," will be held May 19. Download the Palette and Palate invitation (PDF) .
