Neighborhoods

The Kansas City Art Institute is located in the historic Southmoreland neighborhood, a largely residential area noted for charming single-family residences with lawns and gardens in addition to condominiums and apartment buildings where many KCAI students live. A neighborhood grocery store offers organic foods and produce.

Mineral Hall, a former residence in the Southmoreland neighborhood, now serves as the home of the college's advancement and continuing education departments. The building is on the National Register of HIstoric Places.

Wesport, where students can shop in thrift stores and boutiques, eat at popular restaurants, watch movies and visit coffee shops.

Crown Center, home of Hallmark Cards and numerous shops, theaters and restaurants.

Country Club Plaza, the first outdoor shopping center in America, inspired by the Spanish architecture of Kansas City's sister city, Seville, Spain.

The Power & Light District, located in downtown Kansas City and home of the Sprint Arena.
