The Kansas City Art Institute offers the bachelor of fine arts degree in 13 areas of emphasis, as outlined below. All majors at KCAI are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
The learning experience of students is based on 129 credit hours over four years and students have to balance their learning through courses based in both studio and liberal arts/art and design history. All majors have a philosophy based in developing the cognitive abilities of students through creative and experiential learning strategies, ensuring students are able to manage complex and novel situations.
Students may choose the Major Studio + option (PDF) or may pursue a double major in either art history or creative writing paired with a studio discipline.
