From the northwest or KCI airport
Take I-29 south to downtown KC area; then highway 71 south; exit at Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd and turn right onto Cleaver II Blvd; travel west to Oak Street; turn right on Oak Street; take first left onto 45th Street; street curves to the right and turns into Warwick Blvd. KCAI is on your right.
From the northeast
Take I-35 south to downtown KC area, then highway 71 south; exit at Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd and turn right onto Cleaver II Blvd; travel west to Oak Street; turn right on Oak Street; take first left onto 45th Street; street curves to the right and turns into Warwick Blvd. KCAI is on your right.
From the east
Take I-70 west to I-35/670 south;once past downtown area continue on I-35 south and take the Broadway Exit (left lane); left on 43rd Street, cross Main St.; right on Warwick Boulevard.
From the west
Take I-70 east to 670 east to I-35 south; take Broadway exit (left lane); left on 43rd Street; cross Main St; right on Warwick Boulevard.
From the southwest
Take I-35 north to highway 50/56 Shawnee Mission Parkway exit and turn right going east; cross State Line Rd; street becomes Ward Parkway; stay in one of left three lanes as road curves left (north)and turns into Roanoke Pkwy/Madison; turn right onto 43rd Street; cross Main St.; right on Warwick Boulevard.
From the southeast
From northbound highway 71 exit at Swope Parkway/US-56 W; go left (west) on Swope Parkway; Swope Pkwy becomes Volker Blvd; turn right on Oak Street; turn left at 45th Street; street curves right and turns into Warwick Blvd.; KCAI is on your right.
Information sessions
These morning sessions provide an enjoyable opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn more about the Kansas City Art Institute. You'll experience:
- A digital presentation of what each department has to offer including images of current student work.
- Take a tour of our campus.
- Learn about financial aid.
- Learn about student life and careers and other KCAI services.
A portfolio review may be conducted by one of the regional coordinators if desired following the session.

Information session schedule:
9 - 9:30 a.m. - Check-in at the admissions office in Mineral Hall, 4340 Oak Street: northwest corner of Oak and 44th Street, across the street from the main campus (street parking is available). See a campus map here.
9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Digital presentation of the B.F.A. program including images of current student work, campus facilities and the Kansas City community.
10:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Information about financial aid.
10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Campus tour.
12:15 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Optional portfolio review and/or personal interviews.

Please let us know how many are in your party, what city you live in and what school you are presently attending. Also let us know if you are bringing your portfolio.

Campus tours:
We offer student-led campus tours for prospective students and their guests Monday-Friday at two times: 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. Tours last approximately 1-1/2 hours.
Reservations are required so please call the admissions office at 800-522-5224 toll free or local at 816-474-5224, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or e-mail us at admiss@kcai.edu with your request. Please note if you are requesting both a personal visit and tour we will schedule your consultation either prior to or directly after your tour.
Personal consultation with an admissions counselor:
You may visit with an admissions representative for a personal interview or portfolio review during office hours 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
