Remembering KCAI in your estate plan
An Open Letter to Our Alumni and Friends;
Through your association with the Art Institute, you already know what an extraordinary place it is...an energetic, creative community dedicated to excellence in art and design education and to making significant contributions to the quality of life in Kansas City.
In recent months, a number of the Institute’s stakeholders have been involved in visioning and planning for the years ahead. What has emerged is a strong dynamic path for the future of this 120-year old organization.
Through our interest and involvement, those of us who care about the college can help assure that future. One of the most important things we can do is to reach back to those who will come after us. The successes that the talented young artists and designers who attend the Institute achieve in their lifetimes will be heavily influenced by how well we prepare the way for them.
Will the world they live in and the challenges they face be very different from what we have experienced? Most certainly! Can we really do anything that will help them be successful? Yes, we can!
Some of us may have the financial capacity to help in significant ways now. Others of us may prefer to make a gift made through our estate plans. We can all be part of the future of art and design in America by establishing a legacy that will perpetuate our life’s passions and work.
As we plan for the distribution of our assets and estates, it is important that we balance our charitable intent with our future financial needs. Will we need our assets to generate a regular fixed income? Do we have highly appreciated assets that present tax issues? Do we have a loved one with special needs for which we must provide?
Further discussion with your financial advisor or one of our advancement officers about the myriad of charitable giving vehicles available can provide you with options that will both meet your financial needs and your charitable interests.
The Kansas City Art Institute’s Legacy Society, which recognizes those who have made a planned gift to the college, has been in existence for some years.
However, for the next 18 months, we are re-opening the Charter Membership rolls. If you make a planned gift during that time or notify us of your intent to do so, you will become a Charter Member and receive the appropriate recognition and benefits. There will be a special event especially for Legacy Society members each spring, you will be invited to insider programs and events throughout the year and your name will be listed in several KCAI publications.
At your request, I would be happy to send you further information about how our planned giving program can help you fulfill your charitable interests and meet your financial goals. Please call 816-802-3417 for assistance.
Thank you for considering this special opportunity to play a lasting role in the lives of future generations of young artists and designers. Your generosity will not be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Charles J. Egan, Jr., Chair
