Art in the Loop’s first public art commission, Uplifted Arms, was unveiled in November 2005. The site-specific artwork, a $75,000 commission, was created for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority Transit Plaza at 10th and Main. Celebrating the diverse community of individuals that inhabits the site and the city, the work is comprised of a series of metal and glass sculptures depicting actual Kansas City bus riders.

“Art In The Loop will be one of those moments I will share with the new people that I meet here. Thanks for immortalizing my spirit and the spirits of other great individuals. It is a wonderful creation of the mind and a great fruit of all the hard work put into it.” – Nici Watts, one of the bus riders depicted in Uplifted Arms
