Students must complete an application and submit a one-time $25 application fee with proof of high school diploma or its equivalent. You may complete the application and enroll in classes online or download a Fine Arts certificate application.
To complete a painting certificate in fine arts a student must take four core courses (102 classroom hours) and 72 classroom hours in elective courses within a two-year period.
Core courses include "Beginning Drawing" (30 classroom hours), "Life Drawing or Figure Drawing" (24 classroom hours), "Color Theory" (24 classroom hours) and "From Black and White to Color" (24 classroom hours).
Elective courses include any Kansas City Art Institute continuing education courses in painting (in addition to the core courses).
