Grants

Grants are awarded based on financial need and need not be repaid. A prior bachelor's degree excludes a student from eligibility for grant awards. To apply for grants, complete the FAFSA.

Federal Pell Grants

Federal Pell Grants are renewable grants based on financial need and provided directly from the federal government. If you do not receive a Pell Grant, you may be eligible for other types of assistance.

Academic Competitiveness Grants

Academic Competitiveness Grants are for Pell-eligible students enrolled at least half-time in their first or second year of study or in a certificate program of at least one year at a degree-granting school.

First year: must have completed a rigorous secondary school program; graduated from high school after Jan. 1, 2006; not have been enrolled in an ACG- eligible while at or below age of compulsory school attendance. Can receive up to $750.

Second year: must have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study; graduated from high school after Jan. 1, 2005; have at least 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of first year of postsecondary study. Can receive up to $1,300.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants are government grants administered by KCAI. These grants are awarded to the students with the highest need, with preference given to Pell Grant recipients.

Missouri Financial Assistance Grants (Access Missouri)

Missouri Financial Assistance Grants provide grant funding from the State of Missouri for Missouri residents who are attending a Missouri institution and meet financial need requirements by the State of Missouri. The deadline for submitting the FAFSA for Missouri state grant consideration is April 1. Renewal students must maintain a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 and not have received an Access Missouri award for a maximum of 10 semesters.
