Temporary Office Manager / H&R Block Artspace / Part-Time Position

 

Kansas City Art Institute, a national leader in visual arts education, seeks applications for a temporary, part-time office manager for the H&R Block Artspace.

This is an immediate opening to work about 20-24 hours per week and it is estimated the position will be available through about mid September. Work hours would be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The hourly wage will be $12.00.

Reporting to the Director of the Artspace the position will handle the daily management of the office including but not limited to mail, telephone, scheduling, filing, check requests, supplies and general organization. The position will also provide clerical support and assist the director in various aspects of program and resource management. The appointee will be expected to coordinate major aspects of a physical reorganization of the office.

Along with work experience in an office setting, strong communication (written and oral), organization, interpersonal, and prioritizing skills are essential. Experience in maintaining budget records (Quicken or similar) is highly preferred. Computer skills are a must. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and knowledge of art history and familiarity with contemporary art would be a plus.

Kansas City Art Institute is a four-year private, independent and accredited college of art and design founded in 1885, and is located in the cultural heart of metropolitan Kansas City on a 15-acre park-like campus setting. The college awards the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and enrolls over 600 students drawn from throughout the United States and several foreign countries. The H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute was founded in 1999 as a university gallery program to benefit the academic and public communities of Kansas City. The mission of the Artspace is to support the creation, presentation, and appreciation of important contemporary art and visual art education through exhibitions, publications, public art projects, educational programs, professional development opportunities, collection stewardship, and partnerships. The Artspace is dedicated to presenting innovative, high-quality exhibitions of regional, national, and international art; creating unique opportunities for local and regional artists and sustaining a strong regional arts community; and fostering active awareness, support, and participation in the visual arts and visual art education.
