Full-time assistant professor of digital filmmaking

Description: The successful candidate will teach in a strongly innovative program emphasizing interdisciplinary and experimental approaches to art making and teaching. With a grounding in history of media art, contemporary art theory, multicultural approaches to narrative arts and a dialog between the still and moving image, the successful candidate will also teach the digital filmmaking component of the sophomore year program, the advanced junior and senior studios, photography and digital filmmaking senior thesis, expanded media and other studio seminars.

Requirements for the position:

  • Thorough knowledge of video production techniques including off-line and digital non-linear editing with Final Cut Pro, audio editing and sound design and photography. 
  • Experience with After Effects, Premiere and a strong knowledge of global contemporary art, and working experience with performance and installation art are desirable.
  • Demonstrated professional achievement within the field

Education and experience requirements:

  • M.F.A. degree or equivalent professional experience as determined by KCAI administration
  • College level teaching experience
