Portraits of Thought: An arts professionals activity led by Sheri Jacobs, MA-ATC registered art therapist, based on the painting "Burden of Light"

Portraits of Thought is a series of creative workshops exploring the space that exists between verbal and visual communication and comprehension featuring Charlotte Street Foundation award winner Marcus Cain ('98 painting) in association with the Kansas Art Therapy Association. This final workshop in the series will feature an arts professionals activity led by Sheri Jacobs, MA-ATC registered art therapist, based on the painting "Burden of Light" by Cain. Today is the last day to view “2012 Charlotte Street Foundation Fellows” on view at H&R Block Artspace at KCAI, 16 E. 43 St. The exhibition features new work by 2012 Fellows Anne Austin Pearce (’88 painting), Marcus Cain (’98 painting) and Luke Rocha (attended). Since 1997, the Charlotte Street Foundation has recognized and provided support for visual artists in Kansas City and has helped fund projects for 77 artists through its fellowship program. Films4peace

Today is the last day to view a screening of films4peace, an annual short film commission visually interpreting the subject of peace. H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute, in partnership with PUMA Creative, joined cultural institutions worldwide, from Australia to Zimbabwe, screening films4peace in recognition and celebration of World Peace Day. Films4peace is curated by Mark Coetzee and features 17 films by 21 international artists. Regular gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
