Work study and student employment opportunities
The Office of Financial Aid assists students in obtaining jobs during the academic year and over summer break. Thirty percent of the student body is employed on campus through the student employment program. Off-campus positions are also available in community service and the America Reads program. Our work study programs provide on-campus employment for 5 to 10 hours per week with wages starting at $6.50/hr. Campus employment often provides valuable job training that links a student to summer or post-graduation employment.
On-campus student employment is available for currently enrolled students only. Current job openings are listed on the College Works Web site. To view these openings you must register for an account with College Works. Approximately one business day after you register, it will be determined if you are eligible to apply for student jobs. Return to the College Works site to check your status. Accounts for new freshmen will not be activated until the beginning of the Fall semester. If the site indicates that you are eligible, you can apply online for a position. You may apply for only one position at a time. Your information will be forwarded to the appropriate supervisor, and you will be contacted if they are interested in interviewing you. Be sure to complete your online profile; it will be sent to the supervisor with your application. If you do not receive a response from the supervisor or if you decide to apply for a different position instead, contact the financial aid office.
After you have been hired for a position you MUST come to the financial aid office to complete hiring paperwork. Work study forms must be updated each academic year.
