KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 2, 2010 ) — L. William Zahner, CEO of A. Zahner Company, Architectural Metals, has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of the Kansas City Art Institute. His term of office begins July 1. A member of the board of trustees since July 2004, he succeeds Gary Gradinger, chairman and CEO of Golden Star Inc., who had served as board chair since 2007.
Joining the board this summer will be Pat McCown, CEO of McCownGordon Construction; Allan Gray, director of community relations and cultural affairs at Truman Medical Centers; and George Terbovich of George Terbovich Designs. Re-joining the board is Herb Kohn, partner, Bryan Cave LLP.
Celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2010, the Kansas City Art Institute is a private, independent four-year college of art and design awarding the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with majors in animation, art history, ceramics, digital filmmaking, digital media, fiber, graphic design, illustration, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and studio art with an emphasis on creative writing. KCAI also hosts “Current Perspectives,” a free public lecture series; free exhibitions at the H&R Block Artspace gallery; and evening, weekend and summer classes in art, design, multimedia studies and desktop publishing for children, youth and adults.
