KCAI staff member to serve on Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship panel

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 29, 2013) — On Nov. 5, Emily Brattin, international studies coordinator at the Kansas City Art Institute, will travel to Houston to serve on the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program’s scholarship selection panel. She is the first representative from KCAI to have been invited by the U.S. Department of State to serve on the national panel.

KCAI appoints Jamie Koval as Joyce C. Hall Distinguished Professor of Design

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 21, 2013) — Jamie Koval, a partner with VSA Partners, an independent branding firm headquartered in Chicago, has been appointed the Joyce C. Hall Distinguished Professor of Design at the Kansas City Art Institute, a private four-year college of art and design. For nearly 30 years, Koval’s career has been steeped in design leadership, brand consulting and advocacy.

Kansas City Art Institute offers Japanese language course online; receives grant from Japan Foundation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 30, 2013) — The Kansas City Art Institute began offering its first-ever online B.F.A. courses thanks to a $19,000 grant from the Japan Foundation. KCAI introduced an online Japanese language and culture class for the fall 2013 semester as part of its Asian Studies Certificate Program.

Film series to accompany “Performance Now” exhibition at H&R Block Artspace

Peter Sellars to speak at Kansas City Art Institute Commencement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 30, 2013) — Jacqueline Chanda, Ph.D., president of the Kansas City Art Institute, has announced that opera, theater and festival director Peter Sellars will speak at the college’s commencement exercises, which will take place at 2 p.m. May 18 at Unity Temple on the Country Club Plaza.
