KANSAS CITY, MO. (Feb. 3, 2010) — A group of Kansas City Art Institute students, supervised by members of the KCAI faculty, has begun work on a project to design and paint murals at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Funding is being provided by the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation. The murals are to be completed in time for the center’s opening in fall 2011. 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 12, 2010) — The Kansas City Art Institute, a four-year college of art and design, is celebrating its 125th anniversary by announcing the launch of a four-track major in digital media. Areas of concentration will include 3-D design and modeling, electronic game design art, motion graphics and visual effects.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 19, 2009) –– Looking to wow friends and family with unique gifts? What could be more unique than an original work of art created by an emerging young artist? Visit the Kansas City Art Institute’s end-of-semester exhibition and sale Dec. 4-6 where a multitude of works in a wide range of media can be purchased. The exhibition and sale will feature two- and three-dimensional work by students in the departments of ceramics, digital filmmaking, fiber, graphic design, interdisciplinary arts, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 16, 2009) — This spring the Kansas City Art Institute will introduce a Chinese language and culture course into its curriculum. The course will provide an introduction to Chinese characters, and students will focus on daily conversational skills, including speaking, listening, reading and writing standard Mandarin Chinese. The course also incorporates relevant topics related to Chinese arts and culture from the past to the present. The course is available only to students enrolled in the college’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 4, 2009) – For the fifth time since opening in 1999, the H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute will present an exhibition in partnership with the Charlotte Street Foundation. This year’s exhibition, “The 2009 Charlotte Street Foundation Visual Artist Awards,” features new work by fellows Dylan Mortimer, Jaimie Warren and Andrzej Zielinski, which will be on view from Nov. 14 to March 27. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at the Artspace, located at 16 E. 43rd St.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 4, 2009) – A new Artspace Project Wall will be unveiled at the opening reception for “The 2009 Charlotte Street Foundation Visual Artist Awards,” which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. The reception also celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute, which first opened its doors on Nov. 13, 1999.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 28, 2009) -- Four professors from the Kansas City Art Institute will discuss their international experiences and how these activities have fostered global relationships, developed their professional practice as artists and enriched their careers as educators in a presentation at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in Epperson Auditorium on the campus of the Kansas City Art Institute, 4415 Warwick Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. The title of their presentation is “Global Outreach II: KCAI Educators Abroad.”

(Aug. 14, 2009) - The Kansas City Art Institute is pleased to announce the fall lineup of artists, designers and scholars who will speak as part of the college's "Current Perspectives" lecture series. Unless otherwise noted, all lectures are free and will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursdays in Epperson Auditorium in Vanderslice Hall, 4415 Warwick Blvd. in Kansas City, Mo.
