Summer Foundation Program
10-week program, 9 credit hours
June 2 - August 11, 2008
Tuition and fees: $9,300.
The summer foundation experience is intense, rewarding and a terrific way to begin your tenure at the Kansas City Art Institute. It is intended for transfer students who have some credit but still need a semester of Foundation prior to matriculating into either the School of Design or the School of Fine Arts.
This curriculum is an accelerated program that acts as the equivalent of the 15-week fall semester foundation offering. It is offered at a discounted tuition rate and is intended to allow students to get “on track” for their department’s curricular mandates and encourages graduating on time.
The Summer Foundation Program is a general-purpose curriculum that attempts to increase technical facility, design skills, conceptual skills and critical analysis. We address strengths and condition you for the KCAI workload and studio standards, while you develop a focus for your chosen major. The curriculum includes: drawing, design, 3-D structure and design, digital camera, computer orientation, woodshop orientation and hand tool orientation. We also invite studio critics, visit the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, as well as other field trips around Kansas City.
