Living Center details

Types of rooms

Each room has:

Carpet
Mini-blinds
Phone service. Students must provide their own phones. Only local service is available.
Residents bringing personal computers will be provided connection to the campus network which includes port activation for Internet access, information about accessing campus network resources, configuration for network connectivity and scanning the computer for viruses. (See the Living Center Guide or Living Center Contract for more details.)

Each resident will receive:

Desk
Chair
Wardrobe
Bed with extra-long mattress. Each bed inludes materials to loft, bunk or place in the traditional twin bed height.

Double room:

Dimensions: 14'5" x 12'
Two students per room
Window, 49 x 64 inches

Triple room:

Dimensions: 10'6" x 19' 8"
Three students per room
Window, 49 x 64 inches

Please do not bring these items - they are prohibited in the Living Center:

Alcohol
Illegal drugs
Firearms
Candles and incense
Appliances with open heating elements (toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates)
Electric heating devices
Pets (including fish and lizards)
Halogen lights
Large furniture (recliners, large chairs, loveseats, couches, futons, etc.)
Duct tape, packing tape, scotch tape, nails, tacks, etc. are prohibited on walls. If you wish to hang items on your walls you must use ticky tack (available at the KCAI Art Store)

Floors:

We currently house students on co-ed and single gender floors.

Restrooms:

Restrooms in the Living Center are community facilities and are centrally located on each floor.

Restrooms on co-ed floors are shared by both male and female residents.
Restrooms on single-gender floor are shared with members of the same gender.
There are five individual toilet stalls and six sinks per restroom.
There are six individual shower stalls, each with two shower curtains and personal changing area.

Laundry:

There are laundry facilities on each floor.

Each floor has one washer and one dryer.
Cost is $1.25 for wash and $1.25 for dry.
Machines accept quarters only.

Computer lab:

The computer lab is located on the first floor and is available to all Living Center residents and all foundation students. There are 20 stations and one printer.

Fitness room:

The fitness room is located on the second floor of the north tower in room 211. This facility features a treadmill, Bowflex system, elliptical machine, stationary bicycle and free weights.

Television lounge:

The television lounge is located on the first floor of the lobby area of the Living Center. The facility features cable television, VCR and DVD player. The lounge is available from 5 p.m. to midnight Monday-Friday and noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

Cafeteria:

The cafeteria is located on the first floor of the Living Center in the north tower. Each Living Center resident is automatically enrolled in the 19 meal-per-week plan.
