Clements’ work is currently on view in “Chrysalis” at Studios Inc., where her latest solo exhibition explores the intersection of nature, decoration, beauty and transformation. The exhibition opened Sept. 4 and remains on view through Oct. 17 at Studios Inc., 1708 Campbell St., Kansas City, Missouri.

The exhibition builds on Clements’ ongoing interest in floral imagery, wallpaper and Victorian-era interiors. Working with frit, or crushed glass, she creates delicate, dimensional forms that blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture and installation. Her work uses the inherent fragility and light-catching qualities of glass to consider ideas of beauty, taste and impermanence.

Clements, who earned her BFA in Painting and Art History from KCAI in 2011, returned to the college as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Foundation. Her recent recognition also includes a 2026 Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant, which awarded her $20,000 to further her artistic development.

In the KC Studio feature, Griffin looks more closely at the ideas behind Clements’ practice, from her use of floral motifs and decorative traditions to the tension inherent in working with glass. The article also highlights Acanthus, a monumental glass installation recently acquired by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, as well as Beloved, her installation incorporating flowers collected from funeral homes.
