Sia Joung is an interdisciplinary artist based in Kansas City, Kansas. Originally from South Korea, she immigrated to the United States, grew up in Iowa. Her experiences of migration and belonging continue to inform her artistic practice. Working across painting, murals, and installation, she explores the intersections of place and community.

She has been awarded grants from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, Hutchinson Community Foundation, and the Moxley Trust Foundation, and received the Art Enhancer Award from the Kansas Art Educators Association in 2021. Her work has been exhibited at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in St. Louis, Charlotte Street in Kansas City, CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea, Des Lee Gallery in St. Louis, The Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington, and the Delaware College Art Gallery in Media, Pennsylvania.

Joung holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis and a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Iowa. She currently teaches at the Kansas City Art Institute.
